lucky idol

there is nothing good on tv up against idol except re-runs and i've seen the ones on tonight so i flip over to idol without enthusiasm to see how they are going to try to salvage this season and they so recognize the trouble they are in because for the first time they brought the people voted off by idol back to start the show and sure enough, three of the best voices were there... that was the best part of the show...

american idol loses to the losers...

it's partly the judges fault as they were cheerleaders for everyone and not providing real critique or differentiating in their cheering in all the shows i've seen so far... simon must be amused in so many ways (and he can afford the lower profits)... it is time for the judges get real (grow a pair) and actually criticize the poor song choices and limited talent of the remaining contestants... the rocker who probably has the most talent of those remaining will probably be the next to go if adam from last year who was more talented is any measure of the idol audience... cuz the teenie bopper girls using text message tricks to send mass-text messages to vote their boys into the top spots finally show through in the voting... no wonder simon left when he did...

going back to reruns of ncis cuz ziva and the rest are more fun to watch than the bland safe second rate singers left on this years american idol...

ok, just had to come back after reading such sensible truth about the show (and yes, i came back to listen to the show too cuz i am my own devil's advocate and want to see if there is any talent worth kicking the girls who should be the top three off the show... and sure enough, a whole lot of actual critique by the judges, suddenly... much better than the safe re-caps provided by usa today...

all in all, a disappointing reflection on american pop culture, but then, that's pop culture, as andy warhol may have pointed out best, pop is what is popular...

idol sucks

it is not a show i want to watch anymore (actually did not watch it this week cuz softball season started up again) because it is not a show that picks the best voice (adam's loss last year should have proven that, but this year is the last straw for me) or singer or performer, it is a show rigged by young techie kids, mostly little girls who know little about music or singing, who can mass-text for their favorite momentary heart-throb...

bye idol, simon must be laughing now...

dead navy guy

anyone who watches a certain tv show knows exactly what i mean and for better or worse, the obviousness of the opening of almost every show ought to make this show boring as hell, but i love the characters so much, i tune in whenever i can anyway... even if ziva did put on a few pounds...

yeah, i mean ncis...

meanwhile, i've been skipping idol the last few weeks and don't really miss it, but would watch if i remembered and was home or awake or whatever, especially if it was a shared experience, but that's personal and not background tv, now isn't it?... i have watched the ncaa tournament when i've been home and awake and remembering... surprises there, even if nobody is sharing these days... what?... i miss caprica, and that's not just libido talking... in fact, not much libido at that...

yeah, i mean g'nite :)

another idol

i enjoyed the girl at the piano a lot more than diddy, but then, i love music and singers and melodies and songs... most hip hop and rap is too much like preaching, whether it's hard edged, violent, or soft like the song he did tonight... preaching with attitude all about me me me and how good or great i am... sing me a story (that's the key, sing, you know?) and please keep your ego in check and above all else, keep your religion out of it...

tonight a touch of star trek:next generation, some actual news, which is seriously rare, a couple of the simpsons, idol, bones, and the mentalist and by then, hopefully, sleep...

meanwhile, the bottom three is not too surprising after last night, though two of them were in my original top four or five and one remained in my top five after last night because her first week was just that strong, but the personality is slipping and she is showing that she neds grooming, confidence, and more edge... my number one remains...

i still don't remember all their names, so i'll be politically incorrect and identify the bottom three as the black girl, the white girl, and the hispanic girl cuz visually they are and i'll pick the black girl to go first (actually, she was my first night pick for bottom three)... it probably doesn't help her (or any of the girls) that the majority of the idol audience is young white girls, so the boys have the huge advantage...

right, ashton... kid, the others are just better... and the judges will not use their save for ashton... she could get into a broadway show, she's not bad, but the others in that group of three are just better... even if the voting audience was not very skewed to the pretty boys...

idol report out...

idol 13?

not season 13, but the jump from 24 to 13 was kind of sudden, especially since the judges are being like uber saccharin nice like nobody wants to be blunt or the bad guy… too much gooey cheerleader crap becomes fake after a while though… so i tune out the judges and listen to the voices and i like some of what i hear and the top three i picked last week changed a bit, but number one is still number one, big time… two and three slipped a bit, but i wasn’t paying enough attention (and i tuned in a bit late) to remember the names of the guys (and they were boys) who might have slipped into two or three… my three remain in the top five for now though… maybe i'll pay more attention next week...

idol season 10

i missed the boys yesterday and missed a coup-le of the girls tonight, but from what i heard here are my picks for top three, in order, for week one... the difference between one and two was appearance and style and choice of song (personal preference and originality), though two had an amazing voice, maybe even better than my first pick...

Pia Toscano "I'll Stand by You" (The Pretenders)
Karen Rodriguez "Hero" (Mariah Carey)
Thia Megia "Out Here on My Own" (Irene Cara)

weeks shall pass and we shall find out if my semi-attentive impulse picks shall hang in there or be eliminated... i may not have the patience to be around the tv every week, but i'll tune in now and then and i'll check out what's happening on wiki and if you do, let me know what you think of the voices you hear :)

thursday night crisis

not much to say, with american idol and so you think you can dance gone for now, there's just one show i want to watch on thursdays and that is fringe, though the mentalist used to appeal to me (and i am not sure what replaced it, probably something jackson chooses when we watch on thursdays, but there is thursday night football that takes me away most thursday nights so i will have to catch fringe in on-demand reruns)... and then, there is football season to consider as they hand thursdasy night games on quite often... but that's all thursday night offers for now and i'd rather be playing softball :)

wednesday night crisis

apparently i watch master chef on wednesday nights when i am home and in the living room cuz jackson (and pollack) really like the show and there's nothing else on i am interested in at this point in the tv year... there is a cute young cook on the show i would not mind in my kitchen (what?... i love to eat good food... whatcha think?)...

i'll let you know if the drama of crisis comes to wednesday night in the future, but without american idol or so you think you can dance (which is one of jackson's favorites) and nothing on sci-fi, wednesday nights are kind of dull in terms of critical decisions between tv shows... sigh, alas, we can't have a crisis every night i suppose (snarkle :)
