sci-fi channel fail

maybe the sci-fi channel is right, maybe the average or mass of sci-fi (or syfy) viewers have adhd, or very low iqs, or at the very least a very limited attention span and minimal standards... that may be why the sci-fi, or syfy channel programmers can get away with putting on so many b horror films and wrestling, as if some who is into science fiction is obviously into crappy horror films and the scripted macho homo-erotic wrestling soap opera... if they only knew that the horror and wrestling just turns off the real science fiction mind that craves intellectual (as in scientific) creativity... science fiction, get it?...

what's worse is a true horror film fan laughs at the stupidity of the syfy channel as they edit out most of the really horrible horror scenes that most blood and gore horror fans are horror fans for, to see (or dare themselves to watch)... so there are the two main segments of the syfy audience that the brilliant syfy marketers are trying to reach, turned off... and as for wrestling fans, well, divide the market even further...

what the true science fiction fan wants most is another science fiction channel that actually produces and shows science fiction... imagine bringing bradbury, asimov, and heinlein to life... imagine turning the classic stories of these guys into visual productions today... or these guys... there are so many more... even sprinkling in some fantasy if only to prove the true fans know the difference...

of course there is a fair measure, maybe a good measure of false harrah in the sci-fi literature... plenty of sappy soap opera drama and bad writing, i mean, just because an author has a genuine wish to explore the unknown and create a new world, a new idea, a science fiction story, does not mean the author can...

but at least we can stop pretending blatant horror (which sometimes has storylines so banal that they make porn writers seem creative) and wrestling stories (which is basically softcore porn for every sexual orientation and alternative lifestyle with even less storyline) are in any way appealing to the true science fiction fan...

then again, there is the star wars generation (oh, did i open up the can?)...

lol :)

mondays, tuesday, wedsssssss...

yes, the sci-fi mondays season appears to be coming to an end and that sucks since i am into using tv to keep me company and it helps to feel connected to the characters like they are imaginary friends or at least people to take a little seriously and whatever, ya know?... and a new season starts with ncis on tuesdays and i might consider the new show after them (the ncis shows) so at least i have that imaginary family... the rest of the week i haven't made any memorable enough connections to bring me to remember what is on when, but the mentalist just reminded me i kinda like that show and whatever, ya know?... i could maybe look at a tv guide and put up a poster or something to remind me of what i might like to watch on any given night, but who has time for that, ya know?... a bit of x-factor for distraction, gonna be a while before that moves me i think... and of course i'd trade the one or libido sex or a true friend or at least interesting conversation for the illusions, but with nothing to trade the illusions are what i've got, ya know?...

ncis, weird

ncis starts up again next week and nobody to watch it with me (so weird that i am so into those characters when the concept, military cop show, is so not me... but the characters are my friends even if they wouldn't like me and i wouldn't like them in the real world {i mean, if they were real, that is}... a weird sort of illusion, these tv relationships)...

i really miss sharing the illusions... the stories... tv series... the movies, epic emo... the books, whole new universes... even in the background, nobody shares them today... but (with a nod to richard bach, even), i really miss making them real with someone in a shared illusion :)

almost famous

so much passes through this head from the background tv that is on now more than ever since jackson moved away as the sound keeps me company and occasionally there is something on i actually want to watch and so the football and the repeats of ncis and all the sci-fi shows and so much more amuses me and keeps me company but tonight, i realized that i have forgotten (not anymore, cuz i just remembered, at least one part) how much some films move me, inspire me, and are a part of my favoritest experiences in this life (when shared with someone or even just a film powerful enough to move me and be something i very much want to share with someone) and this is one...

besides, it has four of my favorite faces in it and three of libbo's favorite fantasies (of course i don't love it just for that superficial reason, but oh, if i could have only been there with them in some alternate reality where we were all friends and meant something to eat other and comfort and care for each other and... ok, you get the picture, whatever that picture might be in your mind... wouldn't you love to know what is really in mine lol... just have to climb under the covers for long enough to figure out how to show me you really want to know :)

the trouble is, tv ruins film... tv edits to fit allotted time... tv edits for content... tv edits to fit the screen... tv changes the story, the meanings, the power of film... tv destroys film... but we won't get into that for this moment and attempt to maintain the magic...

what?... yes, i refer to almost famous and the kid who reminds me of what's his name from sliders, i think and frances mcdormand who chooses some of the most interesting films in her career, and kate hudson, anna paquin, zooey deschanel (libbo refers to the last three faces each appearing in the top ten of the all-time libbo faces at one time or another and perhaps the highest rated libbo face film in the history of filmaking, perhaps... you'll just have to get under the covers to find out how much i am laughing with you and how much i am laughing at myself and how much i am laughing at the world {you?... that's up to you} that will never understand me... anyway, what was this about?)...

we must remember this...

remembering the days people actually waited at the airport right by the gate for someone to actually leave on a jet plane as in watching the plane taxi away from the gate, waving at the person as they look back at you through the tiny window on the plane, and then watching the plane gather speed down the runway and take off into the air...

remembering when dreams were shared...

remembering always...
