another science geek (with a twist?)
ok, so maybe a little too much cuteness and standard judgment (oh for the shock value of an original open mind, aye?), but a sexy little body for a mom of four (i know, i'm terrible by standard human judgments... what's that about shock value?)...
meanwhile, the website organizer uses the titillation to promote some very good environmental and animal rights causes, so it's not all meaningless pandering... she can be serious too... so hopefully she enjoys being added to my imaginary friends with whom i'd like to gather and converse and play and learn and share serious fin...

science channel depression
i mean, do you know about the lionfish? (hundreds of thousands of eggs each time, over 2 millions eggs a year from each female)... some dumb human with a home fish tank may have destroyed the eco-system of the south western atlantic... fish lovers, yeah... anyway, the show doesn't have it's own website yet, but it's a fairly raw balance of pro and con environmentalism as it focuses on how human intervention allows other predators to dominate huge areas of the world... ultimately, if you watch enough of the science channel, it is quite easy to become depressed... humans are so carelessly self-destructive almost all the time (and deliberately self destructive the rest of the time)...
sigh, it's enough to drive a rational being to depression...

wanna be greatness
lol... a big win for the cavs a big win for the internet, so says espn... ultimately, it's a big win for cleveland, akron, ohio, and the midwest... when you consider the bigger picture, it's a pathetic drama that only a small fraction of the human race takes seriously, at least for the moment... he's grown, for sure... he's got great advisers and writers now, that's for sure... is he as really as big and important and and the man his ego wants him to be?... maybe... that depends on his ego... a few years ago his ego wanted him to be god, a mocking god at that... he settled for king, which is way short of true greatness because greatness does not ned to be crowned, it just is... will he rise to the level of greatness in his life, that will depend on whether he can let go of his ego-battle with michael and rise above the egocentric immaturity that has him whining and bitching to referees while playing a game and stepping into the world spotlight as a leader on issues that matter... mohammed ali, there is an athlete using his sports spotlight for greatness... martin luther king, there is greatness... ghandhi... and a million people nobody's ever heard of... it takes laying your freedom on the line, your life on the line, not just risking losing a game or winning a game to be great in this world... championships are great, but greatness?... greatness is a whole lot more...
so is the sacrifice of returning to his home town a step toward greatness, perhaps, if he becomes a leader in his home town, changing lives with humility and generosity and a passion for doing good for people, not for the spotlight... so far, he's 98% hype and 2% greatness... we shall see what he does away from the game over the next few years and beyond...
and yet, as tired as i am of the hype, i still write this because he still has the potential to turn his life around and realize that greatness is not whining or grandstanding or pouting or arrogantly mocking others, greatness is leading by giving...
i still switched channels because i'd rather watch anything other than the hype... family guy, even...

there now, wasn't that worth the waddle through the introduction?... sarcastically speaking, i mean... hey, i could have linked every one of those blogs referred to in italics in the introduction (yes, there is a blog for every one of those titles, in fact, sometimes two or more), after all... or even before it all...
greatness, yes, background tv, that is what it's this is all about... driven to distraction and the vehicle is the tv, the tv on in the background, the background tv...
so what are you watching?...

extra crap
the height of eye candy and over-stating the obvious, the only thing missing is the hype that extra is must see tv, but wait, trademarks, copyrights, and all that jazz keeps is all tied up in court paying lawyers to continue giving us reasons to believe our lives are ever so important, i mean, we must be important, just look at all the money they are spending...
cynical much?... ah, it's beyond all that and commercials too, it's unreal passing as the reality that everybody is told they want so often that they believe it and must have it and long for it and sell their soul, if they could, just for a taste of the cake (what, you thought the cake was all gone?)...
hey, eye candy is fun, but waiting a half hour for craig ferguson to come on and get real (wink wink) can get annoying, ya know? (what's that, who's sleeping on the job?)... lol lam lal laa...

spoiled, to some extant
sad, no respect for the mystery... spielberg could not have coached her for this interview... still gonna watch though cuz, well, it's spielberg and there's always hope...

dominion
so the commonly accepted god father is gone and the commonly accepted angels are not so good and perfect as commonly thought and humans are as stupid and corrupt as ever and, of course, there is a reluctant rebellious chosen one (is there a culture that hasn't had that one?) with a confused multi-dimensional love interest (love triangles are such triangles, after all) and... the same old song...
yeah, insecurity... anyway, i avoided the first showings and did not dvr because i seek creativity and originality and am so tired of the god and religion based good verses evil stories... but there may be some eye candy worth watching though... not high on my list, but perhaps i shall check it out now and then...

halt and catch fire
the show, halt and catch fire is based in the 80s start-up computer business with the main characters trying to figure out how to make the first home computer pc clone to beat ibm to the market and we know someone did, so i'm wondering if these are the guys... and cute girl genius coder...
no, she's not really my type if you know my type (have i mentioned mila lately?... i mean, is that guy obsessed much?... but i'm gonna just for the record mention that i am available and have an insatiable sex drive and a libido that is very particular just in case, i mean, hey, what can i say, the one {you know, all i ever needed?} might stumble across this entry, fit me like a glove, and fall madly in love with my serious irreverence... or simply someone who wants great sex who looks like my libido fantasy might get lucky tonight cuz she stopped by here and checked me out... mila?... mila?.. bueler?... yeah, i'm too cool and all that, and fun too)...
oh yeah, the tv is still on... so halt and catch fire... an odd one with enough appeal to be dvred and on in the background during sex, or whatever you may be doing...
what?... you don't come here for actual tv show reviews, do you?...

believe
it's been done before, imagining telekenetic powers... sci-fi has explored and imagined the mysterious powers of the mind in many ways (firestarter comes to mind, for one) and there was very little originality or creativity in this one... it held out hope for the underdog and for second chances big time, which appeals to many, including me... also, the unconditional belief in the goodness of people is a primary story line and while i've got a lot more cynicism and jaded edges these days, it is still the core of why i keep trying to share and help and live this life... most of the time (self-mockery... see, you can learn a lot about me reading this background tv blog, i mean, if you want to)...
anyway (nonchalance, right?), i would have dvred and watched another season of believe if it returned and i would have liked it to return and hope someone gives it (and maybe some added writers) a chance on another network, but i understand why it did not return on the prime time line-up... prime time channels are reflective of the culture, instant satisfaction, superficial, snap judgments, no depth... simply, fads... most shows that last do not really get beyond the surface until a few years go by when the writers are tested for their talents and they get those extra years mostly through luck of placement in the weekly lineup and being in the right place with the right message at the right time in every other way... often a theme follows a hit movie... usually it has a known star, or few, and a cast that finds great chemistry... but like every other fad, it makes it through the first season on being a unique idea presented cleverly with a lot of luck of the draw...
believe, alas, did not do well on any of those counts... still, it was fun for a season...
